Find Your Path

Designing a personal purpose statement is one aspect of the Find Your Path program that helps high school and college students clarify their college major and career path. If you or someone you know might be interested in that program, check out the information below!

Find Your Path Program

The Find Your Path Program helps undecided college and high school students choose their college major and career path. It is a one-month program that includes a digital workbook, one-on-one coaching sessions, weekly student and parent emails, and much more. The program is different than career coaching, where clients have to bring the questions or conversation topics. Instead, the program is divided into seven steps that are intentionally structured to walk students through a journey that ends in more clarity about their purpose and career path.

This incredibly important journey is not a once-and-done event. I chose the phrase “find your path” because it is recognizable and easily understood, but a more accurate way to describe this ongoing process may be “build your path” or “find your next step.” The reality is that there will be multiple times when you are at a crossroads, a period of transition, or a time of doubt. The great thing about this program is that the tools you will gain from the resources, frameworks, and discoveries will benefit you both now and in the future.

The Seven Steps of The Find Your Path Journey

1

Gifts

Gifts are your unique design. It’s your natural abilities, strengths, and personality. In this first step, we ask three people you know and trust to complete a 360 Insight survey about you, providing you with a well-rounded view of your unique gifts.

2

Passions

Your passions are your interests and values. In step two, we work through a set of activities and questions that will uncover what is ultimately important to you.

3

Relationships

In step three, you take an intentional look at the current relationships in your life and determine who will support you in this Find Your Path journey.

4

Your Story

Each person is telling a story with their life. In this step, you put together a life timeline and identify themes, significant turning points, and explore how your life experiences may be preparing you for the next chapter of your story.

5

God's Story

Lesslie Newbigin said we are all asking, “What is the real story of which my life story is a part?” In step five, we zoom out and take a look at God’s story. We examine the biblical story of reality so we can understand our place in that story.

6

Purpose

We want our life story to sync with God's story. Before we jump right to career research, you create a purpose statement that articulates how you want to use your gifts and passions to participate in God’s story of restoration.

7

Path

In this final step, we identify career paths that align with your gifts, passions, and purpose. We take a career assessment, summarize what we have learned, and create a plan to move forward.
